CDAB's signature class!

bodyballet.jpgBody Ballet is a unique workout program created  by CDAB founder Anna Lederfeind that takes the principles of classical ballet  training and adapts them to benefit the needs of today's active woman - of any age. You don't need any previous dance experience.

You'll work on every part of of your body from your toes (yes!) and feet to your neck and head. The port de bras exercises, so well known to professional dancers, will help your arms become strong and toned. You will develop a fundamental understanding of your own body's ideal posture in and outside of class.  This new way of carrying yourself can stay with you throughout your life.  You'll tone the core of your body and have healthy hip joints and back, improving flexibility and alignment.

After an energetic jazzy warm-up, class focuses on two distinct yet complementary exercise series; Barre a terre (a traditional Russian floor barre system used to train professional dancers) is comprised of mat exercises designed to greatly improve core stability and hip/ankle flexibility. Port de bras (carriage of the arms) incorporates exercises that focus on sculpting the arms and the back. The class culminates with beginner ballet combinations at the barre to help develop grace, balance and coordination.

Anna created Body Ballet because friends and parents of her dancer students asked for a class for 'them.' Some were mothers of young children. Some were former dancers coming back from injuries or an absence from the dance world. Others, including cancer survivors, wanted to strengthen and rediscover the joy of their bodies. Still others wanted to find a new method of fitness along with the chance to learn a new art form.  Do you want :

  •  Increased self-confidence and pride in your body
  • Strong back and abdominals for improved posture
  • Greater balance and coordination
  • Improved overall body flexibility for long-lasting health

Hands-on placement with personal corrections is a vital part of CDAB teaching. Our professional instructors use their knowledge and passion for dance and fitness to create a positive and supportive environment where transformation is not only encouraged but openly experienced.

This is the most popular program at CDAB.
